REQUIRED FORMS AND DOCUMENTATION FOR ADMISSIONS CONSIDERATION

1. Documentation showing English language proficiency. English proficiency may be measured in one of the following two ways. Documents can be uploaded into your sa.wustl.edu application.

1.1. A Minimum Score on an Accepted Standardized English Proficiency Test. Test scores are valid for two years. Scores from a test taken more than two years before the application process cannot be used to demonstrate English proficiency for visa purposes. We will accept a high quality, color PDF of the official (not student results print out) test scores. We will verify your scores and reserve the right to ask for the original forms and documentation.
  • The TOEFL iBT is preferred, and the minimum acceptable score for students is 90. Another acceptable test is the IELTS Academic Module, and the minimum acceptable score for students is 6.5.
  • The TOEFL iBT provides a finer gradation of scores than the IELTS. For example, the proficiency of a person with an IELTS score of 6.5 could fall anywhere from 79-93 on the TOEFL iBT scale.
  • The TOEFL ITP (i.e., the “institutional TOEFL”) is not administered under conditions supervised by ETS, so it cannot be used to demonstrate English proficiency for visa purposes.
  • The following Cambridge tests and scores are acceptable:
    • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): minimum score of 173
    • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum score of 173
    • Cambridge English: First (FCE): minimum score of 173.
1.2. An Assessment by the Home University’s English Language Department.  The assessment must measure both listening/speaking skills and reading/writing skills. For more information please contact Yoon Groves at yoon.groves@wustl.edu.

2. Documents can be uploaded into your sa.wustl.edu application.

2.1. Declaration and Certification of Finances (DCOF) form: Click on the link to access the form.

2.2. Proof of funding showing a minimum $12,103 USD for Fall 2017. If you can produce bank documentation confirming the amount in US dollars it is okay to document only the minimum amount. If you will produce bank documentation confirming the amount in your home currency, it is best to document more than the minimum in case the exchange rate changes unfavorably. Acceptable proof may come in the form of a bank statement, bank letter, or letter detailing a scholarship or corporate sponsorship. The documentation must be in English with the full name of the account holder and less than 90 days old. We will accept a high quality, color PDF and reserve the right to ask for the original forms and documentation.

2.3. Letter of Support if you are being sponsored by family members, school or government: Click on the link to access the form.

3. Letter of Recommendation in English. Documents can be uploaded into your Studio Abroad application.
