Teaching Policies and Guidelines

The purpose of this document is to describe our policies and guidelines with respect to our teaching-related activities, with the goal of facilitating planning for students, faculty, advisers and staff. It should also serve as a resource for faculty who have joined us recently. The basic principle underlying these policies and guidelines is that if we are all aware of and observe the processes and deadlines involved, there will be more effective coordination and greater efficiency.

Code of Conduct

Your course syllabus should include the Code of Conduct. Copies of the Code of Conduct for the various degree programs can be found on CampusGroups:

Syllabi

A typical syllabus explains course objectives, provides textbook and course packet information, stipulates grading criteria, and provides a schedule of what will be done in each class. Consult the senior faculty in your area or the senior associate dean for programs for further guidelines or clarifications. Template syllabi for the MBA and BSBA program are below. These syllabi are examples for you to consider, not requirements. They have been discussed and endorsed by the respective curriculum committees. Submit your syllabus to course-syllabi@olin.wustl.edu.
