Office 365 - Change User Photo

A useful feature in office 365 is the ability to display a photo for users in Outlook, Outlook Web App, and Lync. For example, if someone in Office 365 sends you an email and a photo is available, you will see their photo when you open the email. Here is an example of how this is displayed:

This same photo will also be displayed in the Address Book as well as in the Lync client. Photos will only be displayed to other users on Office 365. They will not be visible for outside users.

Please note that currently Lync for Mac will not display a photo. Lync for Mac requires photos to be added in a specific way which is not available to us.

If you would like to upload a photo for your Office 365 account, follow these instructions:

  1. Open a browser and logon to Outlook Web App (http://email.wustl.edu/mail)
  2. Click on your user photo in the upper right corner. If you have not uploaded a photo previously, you will see a generic silhouette.
  3. In the menu that opens, click Change under the photo (or silhouette).
  4. Click the folder icon to choose a photo.
  5. If you have a photo you want to use, you can select it and upload. If you do not have a photo, you can access your school headshot by doing the following:
    1. Go to http://apps.olin.wustl.edu/directory
    2. Enter your name and click search
    3. If a photo is available, you will see a Photo link. Click the link to display the photo.
    4. Right click the photo and select Save picture as... or Save image as... (different browsers use different wording), and selct a location to save the photo.
  6. After the file is uploaded, click Save and you're done.
