Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis | Groups

Olin offers remote access to Olin PCs and servers running Windows via Microsoft's Remote Desktop apps.  Olin faculty, staff, and PhD students may use Remote Desktop to access their office PCs from remote locations.  Olin also provides Remote Desktop Servers for shared use by select users.

VPN access is not required as long as you use Microsoft's Remote Desktop apps for Windows, MacOS, iOS (iPhone & iPad), and Android.

You will need to know the name of the computer to which you want to connect. For example:

  • Staff Remote Desktop Server (staff and faculty only):  rds-staff.olin.wustl.edu
  • PhD Remote Desktop Server (PhD students only): rds-phd.olin.wustl.edu
  • Faculty/Staff Computer - computername.olin.wustl.edu where computername is the name of your PC.

To find the name of your computer, check the label affixed to your PC. If you cannot find the label, do the following:
    • Windows 7 - Click the Start button, right-click Computer, and then click Properties. Your computer name will be listed under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.
    • Windows 8.1 - Select Settings from the sidebar, then click PC Info. Your computer name will be listed under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.
