Connecting with AnyConnect

To start Cisco AnyConnect open the Applications folder, then the Cisco folder, and double-click the Cisco AnyConnect icon.

When the program is running, the AnyConnect client will appear in your menu bar. You can disconnect and connect using that icon.

  1. After you start the AnyConnect client, select either Olin Business or Olin Business (FT) from the dropdown list. If you use Olin Business, only traffic going to Olin networks will go over the VPN. Other traffic will use your normal connection. If you use Olin Business (FT), all traffic will go over the VPN.

If this is the first time you are connecting, the dropdown list wil not list either Olin Business or Olin Business (FT) as options. Enter vpn.wustl.edu/business and after you connect, the list will be updated.
  2. Click Connect
  3. Enter your WUSTL Key username and password and click OK.
  4. When the connection is made, the AnyConnect window will close, and the icon in the menu bar will change to show a lock over the icon. This indicates the connection is secure.
  5. To disconnect, click the AnyConnect icon in the menu bar and select Disconnect.
  6. To reconenct, click the AnyConnect icon in the menu bar and select Connect.

The client will automatically update itself as we release updated versions of the client. If you created an alias to the client, you will need to delete and recreate the shortcuts after any upgrades.

Switching from Olin VPN to WUSTL Key VPN

If you have been using the Olin VPN to connect, you may not see Olin Business and Olin Business (FT) in the dropdown list. You need to connect to the new VPN in order for the dropdown list to be updated. To do this, in the Connect box, type vpn.wustl.edu/business and click Connect. After you logon, the dropdown list will be updated for future connections.

Connect by selecting either Olin Business or Olin Busines (FT) and logon with your WUSTL Key username and password. You can delete the old connections.
